HUNTINGTON, WV – The Wright State men's soccer team hung tough with the defending national champion Marshall on Tuesday night before surrendering a late goal in a 1-0 road loss for the Raiders.
Wright State (4-8-1) played toe-to-toe for the first 77-plus minutes before Marshall (9-1-3) found the back of the net for the only score of the night in the 78th minute when Agustin Iusem gave the hosts the lead they would not surrender.
The Raiders were outshot 14-5, with

Brayden McNitt,
Conner Osterholt,
John Lynam and
Zion Beaton all recording one shot apiece. Marshall saw four players record multiple shot attempts, led by Joao Souza's three shots. Wright State goalkeeper
Sebastian Jimenez recorded five saves on the night, including four in the opening 45 minutes.
Wright State remains outside of Horizon League play for its next match, going on the road next Tuesday night to visit Duquesne for a 7 p.m. first kick. That match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
