Wright State fights, falls to Green Bay Friday

The Wright State women's basketball team battled Green Bay inside the Nutter Center, but the Phoenix shot nearly 50 percent from the floor to hand the Raiders a 66-62 loss Friday afternoon.

With the loss, Wright State falls to 15-6 overall and 15-4 in conference play, while Green Bay improves to 14-6 overall and 13-4 in HL action.

Green Bay tallied the first points of the contest after nearly two minutes of scoreless action. Angel Baker's jump shot cut the Phoenix lead to just one, before Jada Roberson's three-pointer with just over five minutes to play gave Wright State a one point advantage that kick started a 5-0 run by the Raiders. Green Bay went on to outscore Wright State 14-9 at the end of the first. The Second quarter would be the difference as Green Bay recorded 23 points to the Raiders 16.

The Phoenix led 37-25 at the half, but Wright State climbed back with a strong third quarter and start to the fourth. The Raiders used an 11-0 run over two minutes in the third quarter to climb within four of the Phoenix. With 9:31 left in the contest, Angel Baker's pulled Wright State within two as the remainder of the contest would be a back-and-forth affair that saw the Raiders outscore the Phoenix 19-18.

Angel Baker recorded her second highest scoring outing in a Raiders uniform, turning in a season-high 29 points - her sixth 20-plus point outing this season. Emani Jefferson added 12 points, for her 12th double-figure outing and third consecutive

Baker finished the contest shooting 11-for-25 from the field, 6-for-13 from beyond the arc while pulling down six rebounds and providing one steal and one assist. Jefferson went 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line while tallying a team-leading four assists and three steals for the Raiders. Shamarre Hale pulled down a game-leading eight rebounds while Jada Roberson added seven points against the Phoenix.

Green Bay finished the afternoon shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, including 53.8 percent for the second quarter. Wright State finished the afternoon shooting 34.9 percent from the floor, while connecting on seven three-point shots to Green Bay's five. Notably, the Raiders tallied 14 points off turnovers to the Phoenix's four.

Wright State won the battle on the boards for the 20th consecutive time this season, out rebounding Green Bay 39-34 overall. Wright State won the offensive battle on the boards, pulling down 19 rebounds to GB's nine. The defensive side of things saw Wright State pull down 20, while Green Bay recorded 25.
