Raiders down Panthers Friday afternoon

The Wright State women's basketball tallied its third consecutive HL victory in convincing fashion over Milwaukee 67-58 on Friday afternoon, handing the Panthers just their fourth loss of the season.

Wright State improves to 12-5 overall and 12-3 in conference play, while Milwaukee falls to 15-4 overall and 12-3 in HL action.

Emani Jefferson's jump shot two minutes into the contest gave Wright State its momentum for the quarter, as the Raiders went on a 12-2 run to outscore the Panthers 22-14 at the end of the first quarter. Milwaukee looked to edge out Wright State in the second, as the Panthers tallied 23 points compared to Wright State 20.

The third quarter saw the Raiders record a 10-0 run over the Panthers. A run that lasted nearly four minutes before Milwaukee looked to claw their way back in. Wright Stat went out to outscore the Panthers 14-10 at the end of the quarter. Defensive was the key factor in the final 10 minutes as each team only tallied 11 points, respectively.  Angel Baker's jump shot with 4:55 left to play gave Wright State the final advantage. Notably, Wright State never trailed in the contest.

Angel Baker's 27 points were a new season-high as the junior recorded her fourth 20-plus point outing of the season (third consecutive), while Tyler Frierson added 10 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season (second consecutive) and Emani Jefferson tallied nine points for the Raiders.

Baker finished the contest shooting 12-for-24 from the field, 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. The junior pulled down seven rebounds and added a team-high three assists. Frierson went 3-for-5 from the field and 4-for-6 from the line, while also recording one block. Jefferson went a perfect 3-for-3 from the line and 3-for-6 from the field, adding five rebounds of her own.

The Raiders shot 45.0 percent for the game, while the Panthers shot a close 42.6 percent. Wright State tallied 14 points off Milwaukee turnovers, while the Panthers tallied 10.In the paint Wright State found another advantage, outscoring Milwaukee 36-28. The Raiders bench recorded 22 points to the Panthers 19.

Wright State won the battle on the boards for the 16th consecutive contest, out rebounding Milwaukee 41-25 overall. Wright State won the offensive battle on the boards, pulling down 19 rebounds to Milwaukee's nine. The defensive side of things saw Wright State pull down 22, while the Panthers tallied 16.
