Despite battling wet, rainy conditions on Tuesday, the Wright State golf team carded a 294 team round on Tuesday on the way to a five-under team score and a second place finish at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Raiders were one of two teams to finish the three-round event under par.
Â
The second-place team finish is the highest of the season so far for the Raiders and their highest finish since winning the Orlando Invitational last March in what turned out to be the final event of the season.
Â
Mikkel Mathiesen was two-under for the day with four birdies to finish his tournament tied for 11th at one-under overall. Bryce Haney tallied five birdies on the way to a one-under final round, jumping up to a tie for 13th overall at even par for the two-day event.
Â
Cameron Willis was five-over on Tuesday but still finished inside the top 20 overall in a tie for 18th with a two-over final card, while Austin Schoonmaker was also five-over in the final round, finishing tied for 28th overall at four-over for the tournament. Davis Root was four-over on Tuesday with a pair of birdies in the closing holes on the way to a 12-over final score and a 44th-place mark, while Tyler Goecke was nine-over on Tuesday to finish the tournament seven-over and in a tie for 36th.
Â
Wright State has three regular season tournaments remaining on its schedule, all more local to the Dayton area, beginning with the NKU Classic on March 29 and 30.
