The Wright State golf team is the only group under par after the first day of competition at The Jewell, with the Raiders posting a nine-under 275 team score heading into Tuesday's action.
Â
The 275 team score sets a new tournament record at The Jewell, with Wright State's total surpassing the previous best team round in the event, a 278, set by the Raiders back in the 2015 edition of the tournament.
Â
As a team, Wright State was seven-under on par fours and four-under on par five holes while tallying 60 pars and 18 birdies, leading the field in all four categories.
Â
The Raiders have four players under par individually, paced by Mikkel Mathiesen's six-under 65 to sit atop the leaderboard. Mathiesen finished one shot off the tournament's low round record of 64, set by a pair of players, including former Raider Ryan Wenzler in 2015. Mathiesen tallied six birdies and had a bogey-free round on Monday on the way to his 65.
Â
Cameron Willis is tied for second after Monday's round, carding a four-under 67 after tallying six birdies of his own. Davis Root is in fourth following a three-under round of 68 with three birdies on the back nine, and Austin Schoonmaker is tied for sixth after a one-under 70. Cole Corder rounded out the Raider quartet in the top 10 with his one-over 72, sitting in a tie for ninth entering the final round.
Â
Tyler Goecke is two-over and tied for 13th following his round of 73, while Bryce Haney carded a 75 and is tied for 24th following his four-over round.
Â
The Raiders will tee off in the final round on Tuesday morning at 9:10 a.m. from the first tee.
