Raiders take a pair from Green Bay; secure top seed in HL Tournament

The Wright State volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 spring regular season with a pair of home sweeps over Green Bay inside MicLin Gymnasium on Monday, clinching the top seed in the Horizon League Tournament in the process.
 
The Raiders (14-1, 14-0 HL) will be the top seed in the four-team Horizon League Tournament, hosting Purdue Fort Wayne next Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Also on Sunday, second-seeded UIC will host third-seeded Northern Kentucky, with the highest remaining seed hosting the Horizon League Championship match on Saturday, April 3.
 
In the early match, the Raiders tallied a .214 hitting percentage overall, including a .324 mark in the second set, on the way to 40 team kills. Megan Alders led the way with a match-high 11 kills, while Nyssa Baker added nine kills of her own in addition to a match-high six blocks. Lainey Stephenson passed out 30 of Wright State's 35 assists, while Jenna Story (24) and Callie Martin (10) each had double-digit digs as Stephenson added nine of her own.
 
Monday night, Wright State wrapped up its undefeated League season with its 10th three-set sweep of the season, as Green Bay tallied just a .054 hitting percentage for the night. Mallory Ladd finished with a match-high 11 kills on the night she was honored for Senior Night, while Celia Powers added nine kills over her own as the Raiders notched 36 total kills. Baker followed up her afternoon defense with eight more blocks, while Stephenson again passed out 30 of Wright State's 35 assists. Stephenson finished with a double-double after adding a match-high 18 digs as well, while Story tallied 13 digs.
