
Golf jumps two spots on Friday at Sea Palms Invitational

Despite battling tough conditions all day, the Wright State golf team jumped three spots on the team leaderboard and sits in sixth heading into Saturday's final round at the Sea Palms Invitational. Individually, Austin Schoonmaker moved up to second with his round of 71.

The Raiders, who opened with a 288 team score in the opening round Thursday, carded a 291 as a team on Friday, and were tied for first in the team standings entering the 18th hole. On the final hole, Wright State carded three double bogies and a pair of bogies to finish with the 291 and drop to sixth on the team leaderboard.

Schoonmaker, who tallied six birdies in the opening round, turned in an even par 71 on Friday with a pair of birdies and two bogies on his card. Mikkel Mathiesen finished with a one-over 72 on Friday, jumping up to a tie for 28th with his plus-five overall score.

Tyler Goecke moved up three spots into a tie for 25th behind his three-over round, while Cameron Willis was also three-over on Friday and enters the final round six-over overall in a tie for 30th. Â Cole Corder sits in a tie for 70th after a second round 80, and Bryce Haney, competing as an independent, is 76th at plus-17 overall after a nine-over Friday round.

Saturday's final round action sees the Raiders to tee off as a group at 8:15 a.m., starting on the front nine for the second straight morning.
