
Raiders, Schoonmaker both finish tied for sixth in Georgia

Austin Schoonmaker finished tied for sixth individually to pace the Wright State golf team, who also finished in a tie for sixth overall in the team standings with a 304 team round, after Saturday's final round of the Sea Palms Invitational.

Schoonmaker, playing on his birthday, finished plus-three overall for the tournament, carding a seven-over 78 on Saturday. Â Tyler Goecke turned in Wright State's low round of the day with a one-over 72 to finish in a tie for 12th, while Mikkel Mathiesen and Cameron Willis each turned in cards of 77 on Saturday, with Matheisen finishing the tournament 11-over in a tie for 32nd and Willis in a tie for 37th at 12-over.

Cole Corder was plus-eight on Saturday and finished 23-over for the tournament, while Bryce Haney, playing as an independent, carded a six-over 77 on Saturday and also finished 23-over for the week.

The Raiders finished the three rounds with 46 total birdies, the most in the 16-team field, while Goecke was the lone player in the field to average an under par score on par three's throughout the week. Goecke finished with 13 birdies of his own over the three rounds, one off the top mark of the field, while Cameron Willis had 11 birdies and Schoonmaker had 10 birdies of his own.

Wright State has its final scheduled trip down south coming up next, playing in the Seahawk Intercollegiate March 14-16 in Wallace, North Carolina. The Raiders final three tournaments – including the Wright State Invitational in mid-April – are all regional travel ahead of the Horizon League Championship, April 25-27 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
