The Wright State golf team looks to defend its team title this week in Indiana as the Raiders take part in the 2021 Horizon League Championship in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Â
The Raiders won the 2019 Horizon League team title and saw Bryce Haney and Cole Corder finish second and third, respectively, individually, down in Florida. The 2020 Horizon League Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
The Wright State team for the Horizon League Championship will consist of Austin Schoonmaker, Mikkel Mathiesen, Tyler Goecke, Cameron Willis and Bryce Haney. The Raiders will tee off on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. ET before a 7:30 a.m. ET start on Monday.
Â
Live scoring will be available through GolfStat to follow the action.
Â
This year's Championship has been moved from Florida to the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, where the men will play the Kampen course. The Kampen Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, links-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees that will play as a Par 72, 6,874-yard course this week. The Kampen course has also played host to a number of major collegiate and public tournaments, including four Big Ten Championships, three NCAA Regionals and both the 2003 NCAA Women's Championships and the 2008 NCAA Men's Championships.
Â
While fans are allowed, in accordance with local and regional COVID policies, the following recommendations are to be adhered to throughout the championships: Attendees must be physically distanced and masked at all times; and Attendees will not be allowed to congregate with competing student-athlete and coaches. Coaches will monitor their student-athletes to ensure that they're not in contact with family and friends in attendance.
Â
Wright State is the defending HL champion and top seed among the 10-team Horizon League field this week. The Raiders are coming off of a team win in last week's Wright State Invitational that saw eight of the remaining nine HL teams compete. The Raiders finished 21-over as a group, while the next best Horizon League team finish was newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne, who finished fourth overall at 38-over.
