THE SERIES
Teams: Wright State (13-8, 13-3 HL)
Purdue Fort Wayne (9-14, 6-10 HL)
Location: Nischwitz Stadium / Dayton, OH
The Wright State baseball team returns to Nischwitz Stadium this weekend for the first time in nearly a month as the Raiders welcome Horizon League newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne to town for a four-game Horizon League series. Wright State was off last week in the HL's scheduling model, while Fort Wayne split a home series with Northern Kentucky. Due to expected weather, game times have already been shifted and the series will now begin with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. with the second game to follow. Saturday's contest is tentatively scheduled for an 11 a.m. start with the series final on Sunday at 1 p.m.
For Horizon League doubleheaders throughout the season, the first game will be a 7 inning game with the second game being a 9 inning game. If game one of the doubleheader goes extra innings then game two becomes a 7 inning game.
Fans can follow the action with live stats each game, while plans are for the Saturday and Sunday contests to be streamed on ESPN3. All links are available on the team's schedule page. The capacity at both Nischwitz Stadium is being greatly reduced to ensure the safety of those in attendance. Only individuals from the general public on the COVID-Tracking pass list will be allowed in the venue.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State went on the road two weeks ago and dropped three of four games to Youngstown State despite outscoring the Penguins 40-35. The Raiders won the Saturday meeting 20-8, the most runs they have scored since a 25-0 victory over Wilmington College in March 2013, while the Wright State record for runs in a game is 32 – set against Youngstown State on April 5, 2012. Wright State connected on six home runs for the second straight series, including a pair from Alex Alders, and have hit at least six homers in all four of its Horizon League series to date.Â
MASTODON MINUTE
Purdue Fort Wayne is 9-14 overall and 6-10 in Horizon League play after splitting a four-game series against Northern Kentucky last weekend. Jack Lang has 10 multi-hit games, while Lang, Aaron Chapman and Zac Baden each enter the weekend on a five-game hitting streak. Garett Lake and Lang have started all 23 games for the Mastodons at the same position, while Ryan Robison owns four saves, second most in the league. Jacob Myer is ranked in several Horizon League pitching categories: Innings pitched (41.2, 2nd), ERA (3.24, 5th), opposing batting average (.224, 6th), wins (3, 8th). Lang owns 11 stolen bases, second in the Horizon League, while his 29 hits are the fifth-most in the Horizon.
RAIDER REPORT
Wright State has won 22 straight home games at Nischwitz Stadium, the longest active home streak in the country. The Raiders enter this weekend's four-game set with four more home wins than Davidson, who has won 18 home contests in a row. The Raiders' 22 straight wins at The Nisch leads all NCAA baseball, ahead of Lindenwood's 21 straight in Division II and Cal Lutheran's 16 straight at the D3 level.Â
CHECKING THE LATEST TRENDS
Quincy Hamilton has reached base in 19 straight games entering the weekend series with Fort Wayne, while Sammy Sass has the longest active hitting streak at 13 games. Sass is one of five Raiders to have had a streak of at least six games with a hit, while his hitting streak has him with the second longest reached base streak on the roster behind Hamilton. Damon Dues' eight multi hit games paces the Raider offense, while Tyler Black has seven such games (including a team-leading five three-hit games). Black has driven in multiple RBI in eight contests, followed by seven multi-RBI games from Hamilton and Zane Harris.
CONSISTENT AT THE TOP
Alex Sogard's lineup has started the same way for all 21 games this season entering this weekend, but after that it's anyone's guess. Damon Dues, Quincy Hamilton and Tyler Black have been written into the top three spots in the oder for each of the 21 contests, but Zane Harris (13 times in the four spot) and Sammy Sass (10 times as the No. 5 hitter) are the only other two Raiders with double-digit starts in the same lineup position this season.
