Jake Schrand named #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week

For the second time this season, Wright State's Jake Schrand has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the League office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Schrand struck out nine Milwaukee batters in a seven inning complete game win on Friday afternoon to pick up his fifth win of the season. Schrand scattered six hits and did not walk a batter while not allowing a run. His most impressive inning came early on in the second frame. After back-to-back hits to open the inning put Milwaukee runners on second and third with no outs, Schrand struck out the side, including a pair looking, to get out of the jam and leave the game scoreless heading into the bottom of the second, when the Raiders would find the scoreboard.

The Raiders clinched the Horizon League regular season title last weekend and close out their regular season schedule this weekend with a four-game series against Oakland at Nischwitz Stadium beginning on Friday afternoon. Wright State will host the 2021 Horizon League Championship at The Nisch from May 27-29.
