Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Raiders fall at Kentucky Monday night

LEXINGTON, KY – Under wet and humid conditions Monday night, the Wright State men's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 14 Kentucky on the road.

The Raiders (0-2) now home for the first time in the regular season later this week, hosting Bradley on Thursday night in a 7 p.m. start from Alumni Field. Thursday's game will feature a Wright State Cowbell giveaway for the first 150 fans through the gates.

On Monday night, neither side was able to gain the upper hand through the majority of the first half until the 35th minute, when Kentucky's Daniel Evans' shot hit the left post before deflecting back and hitting a sprawling Raider goalkeeper Sebastian Jimenez and caroming back into the net.

The 1-0 score would hold until the intermission, with Wright State collecting four corner kick opportunities in the opening 45 minutes but only being able to tally one shot over that time. The second half saw Kentucky (1-0-1) put the game away with a pair of goals by Eythor Bjorgolfsson in just under three minutes of game time.

Wright State finished the night with six total shots and five corner kicks, while Kentucky notched 17 shots and had three corner kick opportunities. Jimenez finished with four saves between the pipes for the Raiders, while Zion Beaton and Presten Manthey each had two shots to lead Wright State.
