DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team wrapped up tournament play in the Flyer-Raider Invitational Saturday night, falling to Illinois State in five sets inside McLin Gymnasium.
The Raiders (6-3) and Redbirds (3-6) traded set wins all night, with Wright State winning the first and third sets, while Illinois State took sets two and four before the deciding fifth set.
Callie Martin led Wright State with 12 kills, one of three Raiders to finish in double-digits, as she was joined by
Nyssa Baker and
Teddie Sauer, who each finished with 11 kills. Baker, Martin and Sauer each had three blocks as well.
Lainey Stephenson passed out 43 of Wright State's 49 assists, while
Jenna Story collected 25 digs.
Celia Powers (17) and Martin (16) and
Ellee Ruskaup (10) all added double-digit dig totals of their own as well.
Wright State hits the road for the first time in two weeks as the Raiders close non-conference play in the Marquette Invitational next weekend. The Raiders open next weekend against Northern Iowa on Friday at 11 a.m. ET before taking on tournament host Marquette Friday night at 8 p.m. ET. Wright State closes the tournament against UTSA on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
The Raiders return to McLin Gymnasium on Saturday, September 25 when they open Horizon League play against Northern Kentucky.
