MILWAUKEE – The Wright State volleyball team opened the final weekend of non-conference play with a win Friday morning, as the Raiders defeated Northern Iowa 3-1 in their first of three games at the Marquette Invitational.
Wright State (7-3) will now turn around and face tournament host Marquette in the final match of Friday's slate at approximately 8 p.m. ET.
Friday morning, the Raiders dropped the opening set, 25-19, before set wins of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-22 to wrap up the opener.
Celia Powers finished with a match-high 14 kills, while
Nyssa Baker added nine kills and
Megan Alders had eight, while Powers and Baker both tallied seven blocks over the four sets.
Lainey Stephenson recorded three of Wright State's four aces, while she also passed out 33 of the 42 total assists. The Raiders finished with 84 digs as a squad, paced by
Jenna Story's match-high 30 digs, while Stephenson (14),
Ellee Ruskaup (11) and
Callie Martin (10) were also in double figures.
