HUNTINGTON, WV – The Wright State golf team and first year head coach
Conner Lash opened the fall tournament schedule with a second-place finish as a team, while
Tyler Goecke took home top individual honors at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational.
The Raiders moved up the team leader board throughout the two-day event, sitting in third after the opening round Monday before ending the first day in a tie for second. Wright State closed the tournament with a final round 281, its lowest round over the two days, to finish in sole possession of second place with a one-over final team score.
Goecke had a similar move up the individual leader board, sitting in a tie for fifth after the opening 18 holes despite a first round 68 before ending Monday with a second round 69 to climb to third. Goecke carded a final round 68 on Tuesday to end the tournament with a 205 total score and an eight-under finish, four shots ahead of the rest of the field.
Mikkel Mathiesen tallied a final round 69 to finish one-over for the tournament with a 214 total card and jump 11 spots to a tie for 12th on the final leader board, while
Bryce Haney finished a shot back in two-over in a tie for 14th after a 215 three-round total.
Cole Corder finished with a six-over 219 in a tie for 28th, Nate Arnold tallied an eight-over 221 card (tie 33rd) and
Davis Root was 11-over with a three-round 224 total (tie 47th) to round out the Raider lineup.
Wright State now gets set for a pair of upcoming tournaments in Indiana, first playing in the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational on Friday and Saturday before teeing off in the Valpo Fall Invitational next Monday and Tuesday.
