DAYTON/DALLAS – Wright State incoming men's golf freshman
Jonas Borland is one of the 264 golfers in the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur field, which takes place in Dallas July 21-26.
Borland and the rest of the field will tee it up at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, while the stroke-play co-host venue is at Brook Hollow Golf Club, also in Dallas. Borland will tee off at 1:35 p.m. ET at Trinity Forest in his opening round before having an 8:15 a.m. ET second round tee time at Brook Hollow.
Monday and Tuesday will feature 18 holes of stroke play before the Round of 64 match play takes place on Wednesday. Thursday will see both the Round of 32 and the Round of 16 matches contested, with the quarterfinal and semifinal matches taking place on Friday and the 36-hole championship match set for next Saturday, July 26.
Borland reached the U.S. Junior Amateur by carding a three-under 69 in late May at a qualifier at Silver Lake Country Club in Silver Lake, Ohio. To be eligible for the U.S. Junior Amateur, competitor cannot have a Handicap Index exceeding 2.4, and not reached his 19th birthday by July 26, 2025.
Borland, a native of Columbus, Ohio, was a four-year varsity player and two-time team MVP at St. Charles Preparatory School. He was a four-time first team all-league selection and has two all-district selections to go along with a pair of honorable mention all-district performances. A six-time high school tournament medalist, Borland also played baseball at St. Charles and was a member of the National Honor Society.
