Raiders lap field, Corder sets course record at Earl Yestingsmeier Invite

MUNCIE, IN – The Wright State golf team faced little opposition on the way to capturing the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational team title with a 22-under team score, while Cole Corder won the individual title with his 10-under score. Wright State placed four individuals in the top six overall and every Raider turned in finishes inside the top 13.

The Raiders led wire-to-wire on the team side, carding team round totals of 271 and 269 in the first two rounds Friday before a final round 278 on the way to their 818 total, 22-under finish. Wright State was an astounding 38 shots ahead of second-place Bowling Green, who finished with a 16-over team score.

Corder also led from the start, setting a tournament and Delaware Country Club competitive course record with his round of 62 to open the weekend, tallying nine birdies and a single birdie on the way to the record round. Corder finished the tournament with a 68 in his second round Friday and a final round 70 on Saturday on the way to his 10-under finish, four shots ahead of second place Kasey Lilly of Purdue Fort Wayne.

Mikkel Mathiesen jumped from a tie for ninth up to a third-place finish with his final round 68 on Saturday, finishing the tournament at four-under overall after an opening round 68 and a second round 70 before his final round tally. Davis Root finished tied for fourth one shot back at three-under, turning in rounds of 70, 68 and 69, while Bryce Haney turned in a two-under final card for a sixth-place finish following rounds of 71, 66 and 71.

Tyler Goecke and Andrew Flynn both finished in a tie for 13th at two-over, with Goecke carding rounds of 73, 67 and 72, while Flynn tallied an opening round 68 before back-to-back rounds of 72.

The Raiders now have a quick turnaround ahead of them, as they make the short jump over to play in the Valpo Fall Invitational, which is scheduled to begin with the first two rounds on Monday. Wright State is the defending champion of the Valpo Fall Invitational from back in the fall of 2019, and will look to defend its title at Sand Creek Country Club.
