Volleyball set for midweek battle with Northern Kentucky

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team returns home for a midweek matchup with Northern Kentucky on Tuesday night inside McLin Gymnasium. The first of three straight home matches for the Raiders, Tuesday's contest is set for a 6 p.m. start and is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State improved its winning streak to 16 consecutive contests to tie the program record, as the Raiders came from behind to defeat Green Bay in five sets before sweeping Milwaukee. Taylor Bransfield led the way on Friday, collecting a career-high 19 kills and nine blocks as Megan Alders added 14 kills while Sam Ott notched her eighth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 19 digs. Saturday, Callie Martin recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Bransfield added 11 kills of her own and Alders was also in double digits with 10 kills. Ott tallied nine kills as that quartet accounted for 41 of the Raiders' 46 kills in the sweep.
DEFEND McLIN
Since the start of the 2018 season, Wright State is 46-8 overall in home matches inside McLin Gymnasium after a 21-60 home mark (and just 54 total victories, home or otherwise) from 2011-2016. Overall, the Raiders are now 60-15 in Horizon League play since the start of 2018 and have 99 total wins in that same stretch.
RECENT HISTORY WITH THE OPPONENT
Wright State and Northern Kentucky have met 12 times since the start of 2018, including three times in the Horizon League tournament. The Raiders hold a slim, 7-5 advantage over that stretch with six matches going to five sets and only three matches (all Raider wins) finishing as three set sweeps, including the meeting earlier this season.

The solid setting has led the Raiders to the No. 37 mark nationally with 1,232 kills, aided by their 37.03 attacks/set ratio, No. 25 nationally. Defensively, Wright State is No. 5 nationally with a 17.60 digs/set average and No. 10 nationally with 1,619 total digs. Jenna Story's 5.42 digs/set average is No. 10 nationally and her 499 total digs are No. 7 nationally.
THE NCAA STORY
Jenna Story has put herself in impressive company, entering the weekend No. 3 all-time in NCAA Division I history with 2,824 career digs and counting. Story broke into the top five with 29 digs in a five-set Wright State win over Cleveland State on Oct. 22 and moved into third place with a 30-dig effort at Green Bay in a five-set victory on Oct. 28 when she passed  Paula Gentil, who played at Minnesota from 2002-05. She is just under 400 digs shy of the top two spots all-time in NCAA history.
