Track & Field back in action for Wittenberg Invitational

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program will compete in nearby Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday, February 19.
The meet will serve as the final tune-up before the Raiders head to Youngstown State for the Horizon League Indoor Championships from February 26-27.
Events will stream on Wittenberg's YouTube channel. Live results will also be provided.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, WSU placed sixth out of nine teams with 43.5 points at the Marshall Invitational. Abigail Halsey and Shelby Nolan made the trip to Allendale, Mich., to race in the 5,000-meter run at the GVSU Big Meet.Â
>> Halsey earned sixth out of 32 competitors in the third heat of the 5K with a personal record time of 17:33.87. The PR moved her to sixth in the Raider 5K top-10 list. Nolan raced in the first heat, finishing with a time of 17:40.09.
>> Emma Shigley raced to a winning time of 18:14.61 in the 5,000-meter run at Marshall, besting eight competitors in the process. The Troy, Ohio native won the event comfortably, as the runner-up finished 11 seconds behind.Â
>> Cierra Lively placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.59 meters. Amelia Harlow was close behind in fifth (1.54m), while Melissa Siler and Bekah Robertson each cleared 1.49 meters.
>> The quartet of Alicia Neumeier, Emma Carr, Alycea Ruhlen, and Kaitlyn Miller finished the distance medley in 12:55.53, good for fifth overall.
>> In the 800-meter run, Neumeier took sixth overall with a personal-record time of 2:22.30. She moved to seventh in the Raider top-10 list with the mark. Miller also snagged a PR in the event, finishing 13th with a time of 2:27.06. Ruhlen (2:31.96), Robertson (2:35.64), and Siler (2:40.31) rounded out Raiders in the race.Â
>> Robertson notched a PR time of 9.58 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles. She went on to place fifth in the finals at 9:69. The West Chester, Ohio native also took 12th overall in the long jump (4.85m).Â
>> As the lone WSU individual in the mile run, Emma Johnson claimed 12th place with a mark of 5:45.73. Nataly Dunes Diaz finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run at 3:23.24.
>> Emma Carr and Kira Ball raced in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. Carr posted times of 30.01 and 1:06.83, while Ball finished the events in 32.10 and 1:16.22.Â
>> Neumeier, Miller, Ruhlen, and Dunes Diaz closed the meet with a fifth-place mark in the 4x400 relay (4:23.18).Â
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
After setting a school record and adding a first-place finish at the Steemer Showcase, Nolan captured Horizon League Runner of the Week for the second time in her career as a Raider. She ran a winning time of 2:57.50 in the 1,000-meter run, becoming the first Raider in school history to break three minutes in the events. The Whitehouse, Ohio native placed second in the mile at 4:55.29, surpassing her previous record mark of 4:58.49 set last season. Nolan last earned the distinction in March 2021 after turning in three top-five finishes at the Blizzard Buster.
