SAVANNAH, GA – The Wright State golf team finds itself in third place on the team leaderboard after the Raiders played the opening two rounds of their spring schedule on Saturday at the Savannah Intercollegiate. Sunday's final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The Raiders moved up three spots as a group during the second round Saturday to finish at two-under par and sit a shot back of second place Southern Illinois and six shots back of first place Troy heading into Sunday's final round. After opening with a 294 team first round score, Wright State bounced back over Saturday's second 18 holes, firing a 280 score as a group as they moved up the team leaderboard.
Individually, Wright State has a pair of players inside the top 10, led by
Tyler Goecke in a tie for third at four-under. Both Goecke and
Davis Root carded second round scores of 68, as Root jumped 14 spots into a tie for seventh at two-under heading into Sunday. Goecke shot an opening round 72 and was tied for fifth individually following his even par round before he tallied four birdies and an eagle over his final 18 holes. Root had three birdies in his opening round before finishing at four-over, jumping back into the mix with four birdies in the second round on the way to his four-under round.
Mikkel Mathiesen is at even par in a tie for 12th heading into Sunday, playing two nearly identical rounds of 73 and 71, while
Cole Corder is four shots back in a tie for 31st at four-over following rounds of 75 and 73.
Bryce Haney rounds out the lineup at 10-over (T67) after rounds of 76 and 78.
As a group, Wright State was 10-under on par five holes at Crosswinds Golf Club Saturday, while the Raiders carded a tournament-leading 124 pars, 23 birdies and a pair of eagles over the 36 holes played.
