Track & Field opens outdoor season at Miami Blizzard Buster

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program begins its outdoor season on Friday, March 18 at the Miami Blizzard Buster.
Action at the George L. Rider Track will get underway at 9 a.m. with field events. Running events will commence at 10:30 a.m. The Raiders will compete alongside meet host Miami (OH) in addition to Bowling Green, Dayton, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Toledo, Xavier, and several other schools.Â

LAST TIME OUT
WSU is coming off an eighth-place finish with 29 points at the Horizon League Indoor Championship.
>> WSU defended its conference title in the distance medley relay, as the quartet of Kaitlyn Miller, Alicia Neumeier, Alycea Ruhlen, and Emma Shigley placed first with a school-record time of 12:17.85.Â
>> Abigail Halsey earned vital points for the Raiders by taking fifth in the 5,000-meter run (17:34.41) and the 3,000-meter run (10:09.69). Shigley followed Halsey in the 3K by placing sixth overall at 10:13.27.Â
>> Shelby Nolan tallied a pair of podium finishes. The graduate student opened day two by taking third in the mile with a time of 5:03.02. She went on to earn eighth in the 800-meter run finals, crossing the finish line at 2:21.33.Â
>> Miller took home eighth in the mile with a personal-record time of 5:12.84. She moved into the Raider top-10 list with the podium mark.Â
>> Bekah Robertson led the Raiders in the pentathlon with a ninth-place finish. She moved to sixth in the Raider top-10 list with the performance. The West Chester, Ohio native earned fourth in the 800-meter run with a personal-record time of 2:31.16. She was seventh in the high jump (1.50m) and added eighth-place marks in the long jump (4.85m) and 60-meter hurdles (9.73).
>> Amelia Harlow was just shy of reaching the podium in the high jump, placing ninth with a top clearance of 1.55 meters.
>> The Raider closed the championship meet with a ninth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of Ruhlen, Nolan, Emma Carr, and Neumeier raced to a time of 4:16.34.

After the Miami Blizzard Buster, the Raiders will head to nearby Cedarville, Ohio, for the Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday, March 26.Â
