Goecke captures individual title at Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, NC – Tyler Goecke captured his second individual title of the spring season on Monday afternoon at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, while the Wright State golf team finished sixth as a group in North Carolina.
 
Goecke, who started the final round one shot back, carded five birdies on Monday on the way to a two-under 70 to finish the tournament at eight-under overall after rounds of 70, 68 and 70. Goecke finished two shots clear of Francis Marion's Mitchell Vance, who had the individual lead after the opening two rounds.
 
As a group, Wright State carded an eight-over 296 on Monday on the way to the sixth place showing and 14-over total scorecard. Tournament host UNC Wilmington won the event as the group under par, finishing at 11-under as a group.
 
Bryce Haney finished in a tie for 23rd with his four-over scorecard, including a five-over final round, while Cole Corder (t50) was 11-over for the tournament following his final round 78. Davis Root (t58) was a couple shots behind at 13-over after a five-over final round of his own, while Andrew Flynn (t74) posted a final round even-par 72 on Monday to finish at 24-over.
 
Wright State now returns home to prepare for the Big Blue Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee in two weeks. First round action tees off from the Hermitage Golf Course on April 11.
