Root jumped 11 spots on the individual leaderboard with his three-under 68 on Tuesday, which is tied for the second-lowest round of the Regional overall. Root is two shots back of Oklahoma State's Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra for the lead and one shot back of Georgia Tech's Ross Steelman who sits in solo second place following his round of 67 on Tuesday.

Playing the back nine first, Root began his day with a birdie on the 442-yard par 4 10th hole and ended his first nine holes with a birdie on the 417-yard par 4 18th. Root added a third birdie on the 429-yard par 4 third hole and saw his only blemish of the day come when he bogeyed the 618-yard par 5 sixth hole. He ended his round with a final birdie on the ninth, playing his approach shot to the middle of the green from the rough off the fairway of the first hole after an errant tee shot, which he followed up by burying the mid-length birdie opportunity.

Goecke moved up 11 spots of his own Tuesday, thanks to a one-under round of 73 that puts him in a tie for 14th at one-over heading into the final round. Goecke had a relatively calm first nine holes, tallying a birdie on the par 5, 562-yard 12th hole before falling back to even with a bogey on the 16th. Holes two through five saw three different colors on the scorecard, as Goecke birdied the 429-yard par 4 second hole. A pair of bogies on the third and fifth holes were bookends for his eagle on the 575-yard par 5 fourth hole, while he ended the round with four straight birdies.

Mikkel Mathiesen sits in a tie for 60th at eight-over for the tournament after his three-over round of 74 Tuesday. Mathiesen tallied a pair of birdies – on the 443-yard 15th and the 575-yard fourth – but scattered five bogeys around his scorecard, including back-to-back instances on holes 16 and 17 as well as five and six. Bryce Haney and Cole Corder are each tied for 67th at 11-over, with Haney carding a four-over 75 behind a pair of birdies and six bogeys, while Corder finished with a six-over 77 after a round that featured a lone birdie, five bogeys and a double bogey.

Oklahoma State, the second-ranked team in the country and the first round leader, sits tied atop the team leaderboard with No. 11-ranked Georgia Tech, who jumped 11 spots Tuesday, as the two schools are the only teams under par at seven-under.
