DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team tallied its second-straight five set victory on Saturday morning, downing Wichita State in the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational.
Wright State (7-3) now resets for a rematch against Dayton on Saturday night with a 6 p.m. start. The Raiders defeated the Flyers in five sets Thursday night before Dayton lost to Wichita State on Friday. Saturday night's game is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

Against Wichita State, the Raiders took the opening set, 25-17, before dropping sets two and three to the Shockers (5-6) by scores of 25-20 and 25-14. With their backs against the wall, the Raiders responded with a 25-21 set four win before closing out the victory with a 15-10 fifth set.
Sam Ott led the Wright State offense with her fourth double-double of the season, tallying 12 kills and 13 digs, while
Taylor Bransfield also had double-digit kills with 10. Bransfield and
Aaliyah Byers each had a match-high seven blocks, while
Callie Martin added six of her own.
Seiler Hruska chipped in a career-high eight kills, including four in the fifth set, as
Lainey Stephenson passed out 35 of the Raiders' 39 assists.
Jenna Story led four Raiders in double figures with 30 digs, a match-best.
SET ONE
A set of runs, each side had scoring spurts, as the Raiders used a 4-0 run behind kills from Bransfield, Ott and Stephenson to take a 12-8 advantage. After a Wichita State point, Wright State tallied six of the next eight points to gain firm control before closing the set on another 4-0 run thanks to a pair of Ott kills and a service ace from
Katie Meyer.
SET TWO
Wichita State jumped ahead early with six of the first eight points before a four-point swing for the Raiders pulled them to 10-8. A 5-2 run for the Shockers pushed their advantage to 18-12 and the visitors closed the set with three of the final four points to tie the match.
SET THREE
Similar to set two, the Shockers again tallied six of the opening eight points and added a 5-0 run to push out to a 12-5 mark. Wright State tallied a quick, three-point run only to see Wichita State roll off the next four points as part of a 7-2 stretch to gain control, later tallying five of the final six points to close the set.
SET FOUR
A set of runs, both sides tallied strings of points early before a 6-0 run by Wright State gave the Raiders a 13-10 advantage. Two quick points from the Shockers pulled them within one, only to see the Raiders roll off the next five points to extend the lead to 18-12. Wichita State responded, using a 6-1 run to pull within one at 19-18 but the Raiders tallied six of the final nine points behind kills from Bransfield, Martin and Ott to push to the deciding set.
SET FIVE
Wichita State tallied the first three points of the set before Wright State responded, using a 4-0 run behind back-to-back kills from Hruska to take a 10-7 advantage. The Shockers tied the set at 10 thanks to three straight points of their own but would not score again as the Raiders closed the match on a 5-0 scoring run behind two more kills from Hruska and a final tally from
Jakyla Jackson.
