Baseball releases 2023 schedule

DAYTON — The Wright State baseball program has released its 2023 schedule, fifth-year head coach Alex Sogard announced today. The 2023 state features 25 home games at Nischwitz Stadium and seven matchups against NCAA Tournament participants from a season ago.Â

The Raiders open their 2023 campaign on the road with four games at Hawaii (Feb. 17-19), followed by three-game series at Kentucky (Feb. 24-26) and Arkansas (March 3-5). Hawaii and Kentucky finished 2022 with winning records, while Arkansas won 45 games and advanced to the College World Series.Â
WSU will host nine consecutive games at Nischwitz Stadium after its 10-game road trip to start the season, beginning with Miami (OH) for its home opener on March 7. The Raiders will host 2022 NCAA Tournament participant Army for four games from March 10-12 and Horizon League opponent Purdue Fort Wayne for three games from March 17-19, in addition to a midweek contest versus Toledo (March 14).Â
Wright State will hit the road for in-state matchups at Ohio State (March 21) and Miami (March 22), followed by a three-game series at home against HL Championship runner-up Oakland (March 24-26) and a Wednesday meeting against Xavier (March 29).Â
The Raiders return to conference play at Northern Kentucky from March 29 to April 2 before opening the 13th annual Joe Nuxhall Classic against Cincinnati in Oxford, Ohio. After a three-game series at Milwaukee (April 6-8), the tournament will continue on April 11 against Miami or Xavier. WSU will go up against Toledo the next day for the second time in its 2022 campaign.
Wright State returns home for a three-game slate against Youngstown State from April 14-16 and will then face Dayton on April 18 at DayAir BallPark, the home of the Dayton Dragons. A six-game road slate at Purdue Fort Wayne (April 21-23) and Oakland (April 28-30) will conclude the month of April for the Raiders.
WSU will finalize its home schedule with nine-straight games at Nischwitz Stadium, including meetings against Ohio State (May 2), Dayton (May 9), and UCF (May 10) and three-game series versus NKU (May 5-7) and Milwaukee (May 12-14). The Raiders will close their regular season at Youngstown State from May 18-20.Â
The Horizon League's regular-season winner will host the conference tournament from May 24-27.
