SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wright State men's and women's track and field program picked up three wins on Saturday at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg.
Cierra Lively was the highlight of the meet, as she broke an indoor school record in the high jump for the second weekend in a row. The sophomore won the high jump at 1.67 meters, besting her previous record of 1.64 meters.
Tatiana Brown (9th, 1.46) and
Amelia Harlow (10th, 1.41 meter) rounded out top-10 WSU finishers in the event.
Emma Shigley claimed first out of 19 competitors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:56.83. She was followed by
Emma Johnson in sixth place (18:49.19) and
Brooklyn Salyers in 14th (21:19.50).
A pair of Raiders earned top-three marks in the 1,000-meter run, led by
Alicia Neumeier as the top overall finisher with a time of 2:56.99.
Kaitlyn Miller took third in the event at 3:09.09, while
Anna Johnson was 10th (3:20.79).
The women's team added a runner-up mark in the 500-meter dash as
Mia Wyngarden raced to a time of 1:23.86.
Kylee Thomas posted the third-fastest time (9.60) in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and went on to place sixth overall at 9.74 seconds in the finals. The freshman also represented Wright State in the 200-meter dash (14th, 27.19) and 400-meter dash (11th, 1:02.86).
Callista Hess had her best finish of the day in the triple jump, as she placed 10th overall with a clearance of 9.84 meters. Brown recorded a team-best clearance of 4.54 meters in the long jump on her way to 12th place.
The Raider women concluded the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of Neumeier,
Alycea Ruhlen, Johnson, and Miller raced to a time of 4:26.56.
On the men's side,
Max Pettit was runner-up in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:49.47.
Alex McCarty took fourth overall in the event at 14:59.28.
The Raider men posted four top-10 times in the 1,000-meter run, led by
Patrick Statzer in third (2:36.19),
Tayton Hess in fourth (2:36.45),
Michael Cole in seventh (2:41.60), and
John Steimle in eighth (2:44.56).
Anthony Jiovani claimed fifth overall as WSU's lone representative in the pole vault by clearing 3.71 meters.
Ethan Neblock was Wright State's top placer in the 3,000-meter run, as he earned 18th with a time of 9:04.37.
Steimle, Hess, Cole, and Statzer wrapped the Steemer Showcase with an eight-place mark in the 4x400 meter relay (3:37.25).
The Raiders will return to competition on Friday, February 3, at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
