DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball team defeated Slippery Rock 82-45 for its third consecutive win on Monday night inside the Nutter Center.
The Raiders (3-2) had three players score in double figures, led by
Kacee Baumhower's game-high 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a 4-for-4 mark on free throws.
Rachel Loobie scored a career-high 16 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Alexis Hutchison finished with 16 points and a team-leading four assists and four steals.
Wright State netted a season-best 11 threes on 26 attempts (42.3%) and went 21-for-24 (87.5%) at the charity stripe. Baumhower and
Lauren Scott each knocked down three shots from deep. Loobie converted on all six of her free throw tries.
The Raiders turned 20 Slippery Rock turnovers into 22 points while also besting the visitors in rebounding (43-29), points in the paint (28-16), second chance points (17-7), bench points (22-7), and fast break points (10-4).
Wright State limited the Division II opponent to a 30.8% (16-of-52) shooting mark and 12 or fewer points in all four quarters. The Rock were at their best from beyond the arc, sinking six 3-pointers on 17 attempts (35.3%). SRU's Regan Atkins scored a team-leading 16 points, while Endya Robinson and Kristina Donza reached double figures with 10 points apiece.
WSU jumped out to a 19-12 advantage after one quarter of play, punctuated by Baumhower's buzzer-beating three. The Raiders opened the second quarter on a 9-2 run and increased their advantage to 39-23 by halftime.
Hutchison accounted for 11 points, three assists, and three steals in the opening half to pace Wright State's hot start. The Raiders shot an efficient 50% (14-of-28) from the field and 46.2% (6-of-13) on 3-pointers.
Wright State led by double-digits for the entirety of the second half, highlighted by a 27-11 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter. The Raiders went 16-for-18 (88.9%) on free throws while outrebounding Slippery Rock 27-12 over the closing 20 minutes.
The Raiders will remain home to face Marshall on Monday, November 27, inside the Nutter Center. The non-conference matchup will start at 7 p.m and stream on ESPN+.
