LAREDO, TX – The Wright State golf team sits in a tie for eighth place at the end of the opening day of the Border Olympics Monday night, with play suspended due to darkness just prior to the completion of the second round.

Action will restart at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday with the final second round holes before the final round immediately gets underway.

The Raiders currently hold a 16-over team score when play was suspended after a first round 298 (+10) and an in-progress six-over second round. Wright State is currently tied with New Mexico State and Illinois State, while No. 30 Baylor is the lone team under par at 13-under, followed by Coastal Carolina at three-over in second place.

Davis Root was one-under and four shots back of the individual lead at the time of the suspension, as he has one hole remaining in his second round to complete – the par three fifth hole – after already jumping 18 spots on the individual leaderboard in his second 18 holes.

Root was one-over in his first round with five birdies but a double bogey at the par four third hole before his current second round card features four birdies and a pair of bogeys with one hole remaining.

Mikkel Mathiesen completed his two rounds Monday and is currently tied for 27th at three-over after an opening round one-over with three birdies, while his second 18 saw four birdies but a pair of double bogeys. Tyler Goecke also completed his second round, sitting a shot behind Mathiesen at four-over in a tie for 32nd after tallying a combined four birdies on Monday.

Cole Corder and Shane Ochs are each tied for 81st at 16-over, with Corder still needing to complete one final hole on his second round scorecard. The two have combined for six birdies, while Ochs recorded a eagle two on the par four 16th hole in his second round, one of six total eagles recorded over Monday's 36 holes.
