Shirk collects Horizon League Pitcher of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS — Jake Shirk was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the second time in his career at Wright State, as the conference office announced their weekly awards Tuesday afternoon.Â
The junior pitcher tossed six scoreless scoreless innings in WSU's season-opening 8-3 victory over Hawaii at Les Murakami Stadium last Friday. He allowed just two hits and one walk, while striking out six batters over 76 pitches en route to his first win of the 2023 season. Hawaii did not reach scoring position on Shirk in his last five innings of work.
Shirk and company will return to action with a three-game series from February 24-26 at Kentucky.
