MILWAUKEE — The Wright State baseball program dropped its series finale to Milwaukee 9-2 on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field.
The Raiders fell to 16-15 overall and 7-5 against Horizon League competition, while MKE improved to 13-14 on the season and 5-6 in conference play.
Julian Greenwell was responsible for both of Wright State's runs, as he batted 2-for-3 with a home run, an RBI single, and a walk.
Boston Smith reached base three times on a single and two walks, while
Andrew Patrick added a walk and a run scored.
Starting pitcher
Luke Stofel (1-3) took the loss after giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters in 5.1 innings.
Alex Theis allowed three runs on four hits in an inning of relief.
Ty Roder was a bright spot out of the bullpen, giving up only one hit and no earned runs in 1.2 innings.
Defensively, the Raiders tied a season high in errors with three. The mishaps led to three unearned runs plated by MKE.
Greenwell put WSU in the lead after blasting a solo homer in the top of the first inning. The Panthers responded with a two-run double in the bottom of the frame, but Greenwell evened the score at 2-all with an RBI single in the top half of the third.
Milwaukee scored seven unanswered runs over the remaining six frames, including two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the bottom of the seventh. Wright State was held scoreless on two hits in the span.
The Raiders will return to action on Tuesday, April 11, against Xavier in the Joe Nuxhall Classic title game. The neutral-site contest will take place at UC Baseball Stadium in Cincinnati.
