BOWLING GREEN, OH – The Wright State volleyball team wrapped up action at the Hampton Inn Invitational Saturday, falling in four sets to tournament host Bowling Green in a matchup of two defending conference champions.
Wright State (2-4) now gets set for a pair of tournament weekends closer to home, first at the Dayton Invitational next weekend before a pair of matches as hosts of the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational on September 14 and 16.
Saturday, the Raiders and Bowling Green (4-2) played close sets all afternoon, with the host Falcons taking the first two sets by scores of 29-27 and 28-26. After Wright State grabbed set three 25-15, the teams again played a tight set, with Bowling Green coming away with a 25-22 fourth set win to end the match.
Reilly Zegunis finished with a team-best 13 kills, one off her career high, while
Callie Martin also tallied double-digit kills with 11 of her own.
Katie Meyer recorded another double-double, passing out 30 of the Raiders' 46 assists while collecting 13 digs.
Jenny Wessling turned in a match-best 24 digs and
Jenny Morey added 11 digs.
Wessling was named to the Hampton Inn Invitational all-tournament team, one of seven players to earn the recognition, after finishing with 53 digs in 12 sets played, adding a service ace in all three matches along with 14 assists.
OF NOTE…
- Wessling has now had four or more assists in her last four matches, with eight last weekend against Louisville. The eight helpers against Louisville marked the third time in her career she's reached that mark (career-high is 14), while she passed out four or more assists seven times last year at High Point.
- Morey reached double-digit digs for the third time this season and second time this weekend with 11 on Saturday. She entered the year with 17 combined double-digit dig efforts over her first two seasons.

Megan Alders had seven kills Saturday to move her career total to 974 kills in four-plus seasons. She is averaging 3.32 kills/set so far this year, the highest of her career.
SET ONE
The Raiders scored five of the first seven points and led as much as 14-8 before Bowling Green used a 5-0 run of its own to pull back into the set. Wright State fought off match point twice from the Falcons and had a chance at set point after back-to-back BGSU attacking errors to lead 27-26, but the hosts scored the next three points to take the opening set.
SET TWO
Bowling Green jumped out to a 6-3 advantage before Wright State pulled back into the set and took a 13-11 lead on a kill from Zegunis and a Meyer service ace. The two sides each had scoring runs from there, with the Raiders fighting off two set points thanks to kills from Alders and Zegunis to knot the score at 24-all before Bowling Green recorded the final two points off a kill and a Raider attacking error to take the set.
SET THREE
The Raiders scored the first three points and seven of the first nine points overall before a 7-0 run thanks to kills from Martin and Zegunis pushed the lead to 14-4 and they never looked back. Wright State closed the set with three straight kills, from Alders, Martin and Zegunis, to fight to the fourth set.
SET FOUR
Wright State again jumped ahead early, leading 5-2 behind kills from Zegunis and
Camryn Hausler, before the sides traded mini runs from there. Bowling Green rolled off a 7-2 run to take a 22-17 lead but the Raiders responded with the next five points to tie the score at 22-all thanks to kills from Zagunis and
Elena Dubuc before the hosts closed the afternoon with three straight kills to grab the win.
