DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team saw its Horizon League winning streak come to an end on Friday night as the Raiders fell to visiting Oakland in four sets inside McLin Gymnasium.
The Raiders (7-8, 3-1 Horizon) dropped the first two sets by close scores (25-23 and 26-24) before grabbing set three 25-16 and seeing Oakland (10-7, 4-1 Horizon) close the night in the fourth set by the same 25-16 score.
The loss ended Wright State's 27-match Horizon League winning streak, which included 12 straight HL victories at home inside McLin Gymnasium.
The Raiders will have a chance to start a new streak on Saturday, as Cleveland State comes to town for a 4 p.m. match that will be streamed on ESPN+. Cleveland State is also coming off a four-set Friday loss, falling at NKU.
Wright State was led by
Megan Alders' match-best 18 kills while
Callie Martin and
Reilly Zegunis each tallied 13 kills. Martin recorded a double-double with 11 digs to go with her 13 kills and she added five blocks, while Zegunis finished with four blocks of her own.
Andrea Bortulin was pressed into action and delivered her first career double-double, passing out a match high 45 assists and adding 12 digs.
Jenny Wessling had 29 digs, the most on either side, and chipped in three of Wright State's seven service aces.
