DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team opened a busy week of home action inside McLin Gymnasium with a three-set sweep over visiting Northern Kentucky on Tuesday night behind three players with double digit kills.
Wright State (11-3, 3-0 Horizon) now turns its attention to a pair of weekend matches against Cleveland State, with first serve Friday at 6 p.m. before a 2 p.m. Saturday start. Both matches are expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
Tuesday night, Wright State finished with just a .216 overall team hitting percentage compared to the .272 hitting mark of Northern Kentucky (5-9, 1-2 Horizon), however the Raiders used a 9-1 differential at the service line to help the outcome in three tight sets – 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22.
Mya Ayro led all players with 14 kills, while
Reilly Zegunis and
Sam Ott each had 10 kills as Ott added eight digs and a service ace.
Lauren Yacobucci passed out 39 of the Raiders' 43 assists and added two service aces of her own, as did
Greta McKee, while
Elena Dubuc and
Haley Robinson both tallied two blocks.
Jenny Wessling had a match-best 19 digs and
Jenny Morey was also in double figures with 10 digs of her own as
Katie Sowko notched nine digs.
