YOUNGSTOWN – The Wright State volleyball team tallied its fifth-straight sweep, and second of the weekend, as the Raiders took down Youngstown State behind three players with double-digit kills on Saturday afternoon.
Wright State (15-3, 7-0 Horizon) now turns its attention to a pair of road matches next weekend at Milwaukee, who currently sits in second-place in the Horizon League standings at 6-1. Both of next weekend's matches are expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
Saturday afternoon, the Raiders hit .361 for the match, taking the opening set 25-19 before a dominating 25-13 second set and closing the sweep with a 25-20 third set win over Youngstown State (6-13, 0-7 Horizon). Wright State connected for 51 total kills while Youngstown State had just 28 kills over the three sets and hit only .189 as a group.
Sam Ott paced the Raider offense with a match-best 12 kills while
Mya Ayro and
Haley Robinson each finished with 11 kills, giving Robinson her first double-digit kill match of her collegiate career.
Reilly Zegunis just missed out on double-digit kills of her own as she chipped in nine kills. The Raiders finished with eight service aces as a group, with Ott notching four of the eight.
Lauren Yacobucci passed out 44 of Wright State's 48 assists, while defensively
Jenny Wessling had a match-best 18 digs and Yacobucci and Ott added nine and eight digs, respectively.
