HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – The Wright State volleyball team opened a busy week with a three-set sweep over host Northern Kentucky on Tuesday night as the Raiders stayed atop the Horizon League standings.
Wright State (19-4, 11-1 Horizon) now returns home to McLin Gymnasium this weekend for a pair of HL matchups against Robert Morris. Friday's match is set for a 6 p.m. start, followed up by a 2 p.m. start on Saturday. Fans can keep up with the action via live stats, there will be no ESPN+ broadcasts for the weekend.
On Tuesday, the Raiders and Northern Kentucky (9-14, 5-7 Horizon) battled back-and-forth for much of the first set before Wright State pulled away late for a 25-19 set win. The Raiders rolled to a 25-12 second set win before wrapping up the sweep with a 25-21 third set win to close the night.
Wright State finished the sweep hitting .306 as a group while Northern Kentucky finished with just a .155 team mark, while the Raiders had a 46-35 kill advantage and served up seven aces to NKU's one ace.
Reilly Zegunis led the Raiders with 11 kills, while
Haley Robinson had a complete line with nine kills and seven blocks.
Mya Ayro and
Sam Ott each chipped in eight kills as Ott added eight digs.
Lauren Yacobucci notched another double-double, passing out 37 of the Raiders' 47 assists and adding 10 digs, while
Jenny Wessling led all players with 19 digs.
