Men’s Soccer Falls to Cleveland State

DAYTON – The Wright State men's soccer team fell to Cleveland State 4-1 on Friday evening; the lone Raider goal coming from Cole Werthmuller in the 32nd minute. The Raiders will finish the season at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
 
Wright State (6-9-2, 2-5-1 HL) ended the night with 13 shots to the Vikings' (6-6-3, 3-4-1 HL) 12, putting six on target to CSU's five. The Raider's bested CSU in corner kicks 6-3, while being bested in saves 5-1.
 
Edwin Espinal-Elvir led the team with three shots, putting two on target, followed by Werthmuller with two shots, one on goal. Conner Osterholt, Brock Pickett, and Samuel Rudjord each had one shot on goal, while Henry Hutchinson put up two shots, and Felix Ezekwuka, Roman Kedglet, and Marko Ordocic each had one shot on the night. Joel Shaw logged all 90 minutes, recording one save. Joining him in the complete game were Jack Jenkins, Kedgley, Osterholt, Pickett, Rudjord, and Werthmuller.
 
Wright State had six shots in the first half, starting with Espinal-Elvir putting a shot on goal in the third minute, and Osterholt in the 13th. Hutchinson put up a shot in the 19th, followed by Espinal-Elvir's second shot on goal in the 23rd. CSU had the first goal of the night in the 20th minute as Matteo Correia found the back of the net. Werthmuller was quick to tie the match, sinking it with a header off a pass from Pete Schneider in the 32nd minute. CSU recorded another goal in the 36th before Werthmuller put up the final shot of the half in the 42nd.
 
The Raiders recorded seven shots in the second 45 minutes. WSU had four shots from the 72nd to 78th minute, one each by Ezekwuka, Hutchinson, Kedgley, and Odorcic. Rudjord recorded a shot on goal in the 82nd, followed by Espinal-Elvir with the final shot of the night in the 85th. CSU added two goals in the second half, first in the 72nd, and again in the 81st, ending the night 4-1.
