SPRINGBORO – Andrew Flynn defeated teammate
Timmy Hollenbeck in a playoff for the individual title on Monday afternoon at the Wright State Invitational, as the Raiders ran away with the team title as six players finished inside the Top 10 at Heatherwoode Golf Course.
Wright State finished at 29-under as a group after a final round 277 on Monday to wrap up action as the lone team under par in the final tuneup before next week's Horizon League Championship. The Raiders will play 18 holes each day Saturday-Tuesday in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida at the Mission Inn Resort for the HL title.
On Monday, carded an even par 71 with three birdies and three bogeys over his 18 holes, while Hollenbeck fired a final round 67 with seven birdies to negate three early bogeys to force the playoff with both Raiders sitting at seven-under. Both players had pars on the opening hole before Flynn's par on the second playoff hole secured the win after Hollenbeck couldn't get up-and-down from the rough off the left side of the green.
Mikkel Mathiesen wrapped up his weekend with a final round 67 of his own, carding six birdies, including on his final hole of the afternoon, against just two bogeys to finish third overall at five-under.
Ian Asch, playing as an individual, posted a 69 on Monday with four birdies and just two bogeys to finish at two-under in a tie for fifth with teammate
Shane Ochs, who finished with a final round 72 after a round that saw four birdies and five back nine bogeys.
Adam Horn finished tied for 10th at one-over after his 73 on Monday, notching three birdies and an eagle on the par five fourth hole, while he navigated through five bogeys and a double bogey.
Kye Fisher wrapped up action in a tie for 29th at 11-over, carding a 75 on Monday with three birdies, three bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.
Brock Rumpke, also playing as an individual, finished 13-over and tied for 34th after a final round 70 featuring one birdie and 17 pars.
This was the final tuneup for the Raiders before the Horizon League Championship this weekend in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida at the Mission Inn Resort.
