Track & Field notches 18 Top 10 finishes over the weekend

COLUBUS/WESTERVILLE, OH – The Wright State track & field teams tallied 18 total Top 10 finishes over the weekend at a pair of events, competing at the Otterbein Twilight on Friday night and the Jesse Owens Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Raiders had 15 Top 10 finishes and a trio of first place marks on Friday night alone, including multiple Top 10 finishers in three different events, as they recorded Top 10 finishes in 11 total events.

Cierra Lively had a busy weekend, turning in a first-place finish in the women's high jump at the Otterbein Twilight, clearing 1.70m, before clearing a 1.75m height on Saturday to finish second at the Jesse Owens Classic. She had company inside the Top 10 at the Otterbein Twilight, with Sam Ott finishing ninth with her 1.52m clearance. In the men's high jump at the Otterbein Twilight, Jahi McDonald cleared 1.81m on the way to his ninth-place finish.

Also at the Otterbein Twilight, Callista Hess finished third in the women's triple jump with a 10.32m mark, while in the men's pole vault, Anthony Jiovani finished eighth with his mark of 4.13m, while Meredith Goecke was ninth in the women's pole vault with a 3.16m mark. The women's 3,000m steeplechase saw a trio of Raiders in the Top 10, paced by Reece Barnitz's first-place finish with her time of 12:17.36, followed one second later by teammate Sydney Thompson in second, while Kayla Compton was fifth (13:07.16). The women's 800 meter race was won by Mia Wyngarden with her time of 2:19.59.

The Raider men were also busy at the Otterbein Twilight, with Reece Page finishing in third in the men's mile (4:28.25) and teammate Gavin Hutchinson (4:31.71) seconds behind him in ninth. The men's 4x400m relay team (Caden Sloan, Patrick Statzer, Michael Cole, Bryce Page) finished third as they were less than two seconds off the pace with a time of 3:34.60. Preston Jackson turned in a fifth-place time (15:07.37) in the men's 5,000m run, while Cole also ran in the men's 800m race, finishing 10th with a 1:59.68 mark.

The Raiders were led by the three Top 10 marks at the Jesse Owens Classic, with Kaitlyn Miller and Alicia Neumeier adding their own high marks to go along with Lively's second-place high jump finish. Miller finished third in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with a 11:02.81 mark, while Neumeier was eighth in the women's 5,000m run with her time of 17:27.18. Miller was 11th in the 5,000m run, just off the pace, finishing with a 17:36.55 mark.
