BATAVIA, OH – The Wright State golf team grabbed its first team tournament victory of the season as the Raiders ran away from the field at The Jewell, with Mikkel Mathiesen bringing home the individual title as four Raiders finished inside the Top 15 individually.
 
Wright State carded a final round 287 and was three-over in Sunday's 18 holes, its highest round of the weekend, but finished with a six-under overall team score, pulling away from a pair of Horizon League foes, second-place Oakland (+16) and Detroit Mercy (+20).
 
Behind Mathiesen, Andrew Flynn finished in a tie for fourth, while Shane Ochs was tied for 11th and Adam Horn finished 14th.
 
Mathiesen carded a final round 72 (+1) to finish eight-under, two shots ahead of the rest of the field, as he navigated three birdies and four bogeys throughout his round on Sunday. Flynn was also one-over in his final round, working through four birdies and five bogeys of his own on the way to his top five finish. Ochs carded one of the best rounds of the day at three-under (68), notching five birdies against just a pair of bogeys.
 
Horn finished the weekend at three-over overall after a five-over (76) final round with three birdies, while Kye Fisher tallied a final round 75 (+4) to finish at 13-over in a tie for 47th. Playing as an individual, Timmy Hollenbeck finished at four-over on Sunday with a final round 75, ending his tournament at 13-over in a tie for 47th.
 
Following this weekend's win, the Raiders now get set to host the Wright State Invitational next Sunday and Monday at Heatherwoode Golf Club in a final tuneup before the Horizon League Championship April 20-22 in Florida.
