ROCHESTER, MI – The Wright State golf team grabbed its first victory of 2024-25 with a dominating victory at the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate as a pair of Raiders finished one-two on the individual leaderboard.
Â
Wright State finished the 35-hole tournament at two-under (862), the only group in the 15-team to finish under par. The Raiders pulled away from a field that included seven Horizon League foes, with the closest competition coming from second-place Oakland at six-over.
Â
Individually, Timmy Hollenbeck fired a final round three-under 69 on Sunday to grab the top individual honors at five-under after opening action on Saturday with a pair of one-under rounds of 71. Shane Ochs finished one shot back of Hollenbeck in second at four-under for the tournament after he opened with a three-under 69 and then had an even second round of 72.
Â
Brock Rumpke (11th) and Andrew Flynn (14th) finished three- and four-over, respectively, to grab top 15 finishes of their own. Rumpke carded rounds of 73 (one-over) and 74 (two-over) on Saturday before an even par final round 72, while Flynn opened with a two-under first round 70 before a four-over 76 and a final round two-over 74. Adam Horn (54, +15) rounded out the Raider lineup with rounds of 78 (+6), 77 (+5) and 76 (+4).
Â
Wright State will now take a week and a half off before competing in the Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio on September 28 and 29. The Raiders round out their fall schedule later in October closer to home with the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club.
