INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State volleyball team opened its Horizon League title defense on Friday night by making quick work of IU Indianapolis, sweeping the hosts in the first of two straight meetings between the sides this weekend.

Wright State (9-3, 1-0 Horizon) hit .407 as a group in the sweep, taking the opening set 25-23 before a 25-17 second set and finishing off the night with a 25-22 set score over IU Indy (6-8, 0-1 Horizon). A pair of Raiders notched double-digit kill efforts, led by
Reilly Zegunis' match- and season-high 16 kills, while
Taylor Bransfield collected 12 kills of her own for her second-straight double digit kill match.
Lauren Yacobucci passed out 40 of the Raiders' 43 assists and led the offensive attack to the .407 hitting mark, which included a .545 hitting percentage in the second set, as Wright State ended the night with 47 kills and just 10 kills on 91 total attempts.
Sam Ott and
Katie Sowko both had three service aces, while Sowko collected a match-best 10 digs, with
Jenny Wessling adding six digs and
Jenny Morey chipping in five digs as the Raiders needed just 28 digs defensively in the sweep.
