INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State volleyball team manufactured a reverse sweep on Saturday afternoon in a five-set win at IU Indy, as the Raiders opened the 2024 Horizon League schedule with a pair of road wins on the weekend.
Wright State (10-3, 2-0 Horizon) dropped the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-20, before grabbing a tight, 25-18 third set win over IU Indy (6-9, 0-2 Horizon) and rolling to a 25-13 fourth set win to set up the deciding fifth set. The Raiders opened the final set strong, tallying five of the first six points, on the way to a 15-12 set win and the reverse sweep.
Wright State now returns home for three matches inside McLin Gymnasium next week, beginning with Tuesday night meeting against Northern Kentucky before welcoming in Cleveland State for Friday and Saturday action.
Against IU Indy, three Raiders finished with double-digit kills, led by
Sam Ott's 18, while
Reilly Zegunis notched 14 kills and
Taylor Bransfield added 12 kills of her own to go along with three blocks.
Lauren Yacobucci collected a full stat line, passing out 51 of the Raiders' 52 assists in the win while adding three blocks, three digs and a pair of service aces.
Jenny Wessling registered a match-high 19 digs, while
Jenny Morey and
Katie Sowko each collected 10 digs of their own.
