Women’s Basketball Falls to IU Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Wright State women's basketball team fell to IU Indianapolis 75-63 on Wednesday night. The Raiders will play again at home next Wednesday, welcoming Green Bay for a 7 p.m. game. Fans can keep up with the action through live stats and the ESPN+ livestream.
 
Wright State (4-15, 2-7 HL) ended the night shooting 44.6 percent overall from the floor and went 11-of-16 on the line. Two Raiders saw double-figure scoring, led by Makiya Miller with 18 points, followed by Lauren Scott with 13 points. Amaya Staton ended the night with eight points, and Claire Henson with seven. Olivia Brown led the team with three assists, while Miller had a team best of four steals.
 
The Raiders had 27 rebounds on the night, led by Staton with six, closely followed by Olivia Brown and Abbie Riddle with five. WSU had two blocks on the night, with one each by Riddle and Staton.
 
At the half, WSU was shooting 37 percent from the floor, going 6-of-12 in the first period, and 4-of-15 in the second. Henson led the team with seven points, going three-of-five from the floor and one-of-one on the line. Miller followed with six points, shooting three-of-six. Brown led the team in rebounding after the first two periods, grabbing four off the backboard, followed by Riddle and Staton with three each. IU Indy shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent from three in the first half, holding a 41-22 advantage over the Raiders.
 
The Raiders shot 51.7 percent from the floor in the second half, as Miller led the team with five field goals, tallying 12 points. Scott followed closely, putting up four field goals, including one three, for 11 points. Miller and Staton each grabbed three rebounds in the second half as WSU totaled 13 to IUI's 12. In the third quarter, both teams put up 17 points for the Jags to maintain their 19-point advantage. The Raiders outscored IU Indy 24-17 in the final quarter, going on a 10-2 run with under three minutes remaining, ending the night with a 75-63 loss.
 
IU Indy (5-13, 4-5 HL) ended the night shooting 47.5 percent overall, going 8-of-17 from three and 11-of-14 on the line. Three Jags saw double-figure scoring, as Katie Davidson and Shania Nichols-Vannett each added 17 points, and Neveah Foster 14 points. Nichols-Vannett led the team with six rebounds, while Davidson led the team in steals (4).
