DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team opened the final weekend of the regular season with a three-set sweep over visiting Oakland on Friday night inside McLin Gymnasium as the Raiders locked up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Horizon League Championship.
Wright State (18-10, 12-5 Horizon) closes the regular season on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Oakland (7-22, 7-10 Horizon) on Senior Day, with the Raiders celebrating the careers of
Taylor Bransfield,
Elena Dubuc and
Andrea Bortulin following the match.

Friday night, the Raiders cruised to the first two sets by 25-17 and 25-18 scores before a back-and-forth third set that saw them take the lead for good late as they closed out the sweep. Wright State finished with a .220 team attacking percentage and 48 kills compared to just 17 errors, while Oakland hit .146 as a group with 37 kills against 16 errors.
A trio of Raiders finished with double-digit kills, led by
Katie Sowko's match-best 12 as she added seven digs, and an 11-kill, four block effort from Bransfield on her final weekend at home.
Mya Ayro added 10 kills of her own while Dubuc chipped in seven kills and had five blocks of her own and
Reilly Zegunis finished with six kills to go with seven digs and a pair of blocks.
Lauren Yacobucci tallied a double-double as she passed out 37 of Wright State's 45 assists and added 13 digs, while
Ella Gaona led the Raiders with 21 digs and
Greta McKee added 10 digs of her own.
Oakland was paced by Caroline Moore's 11 kills and three blocks as Delaney Stern had a 26-assist, 12-dig double-double and Lyse Bates tallied 24 digs for the visitors in the loss.
