Women’s Basketball Makes Quick Trip to Take on Ohio Monday

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (4-2) hits the road for a matchup with in-state rival Ohio on Monday night. Tip-off against the Bobcats is slated for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Ohio enters Monday at 2-2 on the season with wins over Texas State and Morehead State. The Bobcats came up short of Xavier last Thursday, falling 53-74.
 
The Bobcats average 68.8 PPG; shooting 37.9 percent from the field, 25.2 percent from the three-point line, and 65.6 percent from the line. The team averages 35.3 rebounds, 12.5 assists, 12.5 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game. The Bobcats have forced 23.5 turnovers per game and average 22.5 points off turnovers.
 
Ohio has a pair of guards averaging double-digit points. Aliah McWhorter leads the team with 12.8 points per game, followed closely by Asiah Baxter at 10.8. Baxter also leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.3. Bailey Tableing leads the team in assists with 17.

HISTORY VS. OHIO
Monday's game will be the 15th all-time meeting between Wright State and Ohio, a series in which the Bobcats lead 9-5. The Raiders came out on top 68-57 when the two teams met in Dayton last season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Railed rolled to an 88-50 win over IU East Saturday afternoon in the Nutter Center.
 
Four Raiders scored double-digit points on Saturday, led by Olivia Brown's 12 points, followed by Chloe Chard Peloquin and Ellie Magestro-Kennedy with 11, and Rylee Sagester with 10. Brown's 12 points mark a new career high for her, passing her previous high of eight against Youngstown State last season. Grace Okih and Elaina Rager tied for the team high in rebounds, snagging seven apiece. Breezie Williams dished out a new season high five assists to lead the Raiders. All 12 available Raiders saw action on the court, with 11 of them finding their way onto the score sheet.
 
Wright State held the lead for 37:46 of the possible 40 minutes in this one, with IU East holding the lead for only 16 seconds.
 
The Raiders held a 41-20 lead going into the locker room at halftime. Sagester led all players in points at the break with eight, shooting a perfect 3/3 from the floor and 2/2 from behind the three-point line.
 
Wright State extended its lead in the second half, outscoring the Red Wolves by 17 in the last 20 minutes. The Raiders knocked down 13 of their 14 free throw attempts in the second half to seal the game and keep it out of reach.
 
In the box score, the Raiders led in points in the paint 34-26, second chance points 21-10, fast break points 10-0, and bench points 47-6. Wright State out-rebounded IU East 41-35, and improve to 2-1 when they win, they out-rebound their opponents.
 
HORIZON LEAGUE RANKS
Wright State features the highest-powered offense in the Horizon League, topping the league with 493 points scored and averaging 82.2 points per game. The Raiders are getting it done from beyond the three-point line, shooting a league high 35.1% and knocking down 9.8 three-pointers per game, followed by Youngstown State at 7.8 per game.
 
BREEZIE LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING
Senior guard Breezie Williams has made an instant impact for the Raiders, averaging 13.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game across her first five games in a Raider uniform. The Canton, Ohio native is shooting an impressive 46.5% from the floor, 34.8% from three-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line. Williams is ninth in the Horizon League in points per game (13.0), third in field goal percentage (46.5%), and fifth in assists per game (3.0). The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a new career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks.  She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action.
 
RYLEE FROM RANGE

Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 47.5% from beyond the arc, which is a team best and first in the conference. Nationally, Sagester is tied for tenth in three-pointers made with 17 and tied for ninth in three-pointers per game with 3.33, both marks top the Horizon League (as of November 21). Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in five of the Raiders' six games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine. 
 
CRASHING THE BOARDS
Chloe Chard Peloquin and Claire Henson have been active in the paint for the Raiders, each snagging 42 rebounds across the team's first six games for an average of 7.0. The pair is tied for third in the conference in rebounds and rebounds per game. Chard Peloquin started the year hot, grabbing a career-high 11 boards in the season opener at Butler, and later tied her career high against Bellarmine with 11 more rebounds. Henson topped her career-high against Bellarmine, snagging 12 rebounds. Henson leads Chard Peloquin in offensive rebounds, 13-12, but Chard Peloquin leads in defensive rebounds, 25-24.
 
RECORD-BREAKING HOME OPENER
The Raiders set a new program best for points scored in a single game with 122 points. Their first time eclipsing 100 points since November 10, 2017, against Northwestern (OH).
 
The Raiders led wire-to-wire, taking the lead just 19 seconds into the game and never looking back.  Breezie Williams led all players in points for the second game in a row, following up her 27-point performance with another 20-point performance in just 14 minutes. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy (17), Elaina Rager (17), Rylee Sagester (17), and Grace Okih (16) all scored double-digits, with Okih and Rager setting new career highs. All 11 available Raiders saw action on the court tonight, with each player scoring at least four points.
 
Wright State was making it rain from downtown, tying the program record in three-pointers made with 18. The Raiders did it shooting an impressive 47.4% from beyond the arc.
 
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD
The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
 
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin) but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
 
UP NEXT
Next, Wright State will travel to Boca Raton to participate in the Thanksgiving Classic, taking on host Florida Atlantic on November 28 and Air Force on November 29. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m.
