Raiders Drop Heartbreaker to Florida Atlantic in Overtime

BOCA RATON, FL- The Wright State women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to Florida Atlantic Friday afternoon, falling 65-66.
 
Wright State (4-4) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they conclude the Thanksgiving Classic. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
 
Claire Henson led the Raiders with a season-high 19 points, followed by Breezie Williams with 18 and Lauren Scott with 15. Williams finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double, finishing with a career-high nine steals and a season-high nine rebounds.
 
The Raiders were on top after the first 20 minutes, holding a seven-point lead going into the halftime break. Henson and Williams led the team with six points each, trailed closely by Abbie Riddle with five.
 
Florida Atlantic outscored the Raiders by five in the third quarter and two in the fourth to force the game into overtime.
 
Wright State held a two-point lead with six seconds remaining before Jess Moors hit a game-tying layup to force the game to overtime.
 
In overtime, the Raiders led by as much as five before the Owls converted an and-one opportunity and a three-pointer to level the score. Florida Atlantic would hit one more free throw to jump out to a one-point lead. Scott led the Raiders in overtime with six points on 75% shooting.
 
In the box score, the two teams were tied in points in the paint (32) and points off turnovers (19). Florida Atlantic led in second-chance points (11-16) while Wright State led in fast break points (13-12). The Raiders led in field goal percentage (39.7-33.8) and three-point percentage (30-20) but trailed in free throw percentage (57.1-64).
