Wright State wrapped up its non-conference slate with a 70-64 home victory over Eastern Michigan last Monday, as the Raiders tallied eight of the final 10 points over the final two minutes to seal the win. Five Raiders finished with double-digit scoring efforts, as the group combined for all but five of Wright State's 70 points, with Cooper leading the way with a game-high 18 points and adding six rebounds. Michael Imariagbe turned in a solid night with 13 points and eight rebounds, while TJ Burch and Dominic Pangonis each finished with 12 points.
HOME SWEET HOME
Wright State opened the season with seven of its first 11 games away from the Nutter Center, but the Raiders are in the middle a four-game homestand as they welcome Oakland on Monday night. The Raiders are in the middle of a stretch that will see them play seven of 11 games at home through the end of January.Â
OAKLAND ORIGINALS
Wright State and Oakland have met 33 times, with the Raiders leading the series 21-12. The teams first met back on Nov. 29, 1977 – a Raider victory – and the teams also met in Jan. 1979 and Dec. 1979 but then didn't face each other again until Dec. 2000. Wright State also handed Oakland a loss in the Golden Grizzlies' first-ever Horizon League contest, played Jan. 2, 2014 inside the Nutter Center. The teams split their two meetings last season, with each winning on the other's home floor. Solomon Callaghan had 12 points and Logan Woods added eight in a two-point loss at Oakland last December, before Andrea Holden had an 11-point, 11-rebound effort in the January home win.
GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
- Oakland is 6-7 overall and hasn't played since a 79-70 neutral site loss to No. 9 Michigan State on December 20. The Golden Grizzlies opened HL action with a 101-92 home win over PFW but fell on 82-77 on the road at NKU on Dec. 17.
- Oakland is just 2-6 on the road to date, but its road schedule has included then-No. 7 Michigan, then-No. 1 Purdue and then-No. 1 Houston, as well as the neutral contest against Michigan State.Â
HOT SHOTS
Three regular rotation players are connecting at over 50.0 percent from the floor, led by Andrea Holden's 64.5 percent, followed by Kellen Pickett (60.5) and Michael Imariagbe (59.1).
