INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – Wright State guard Michael Cooper has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the League office announced on Monday.
Cooper tallied a career-high 23 points in Wright State's 86-58 Sunday win over Green Bay as he finished the week averaging 15.5 points per game across the opening two Horizon League contests of his career. Cooper began the week with an eight-point effort in Wednesday's one-point loss at Youngstown State, connecting on a pair of three-pointers, including a late triple in the closing moments. He followed that up with the 23-point game on Sunday as he added four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in just 25 minutes of action.
Â
Through 10 contests, Cooper's 14.6 points per game average leads Wright State, beginning his collegiate career with double digit scoring efforts in eight of 10 contests as he's shooting 47 percent overall and 40 percent from deep.
Wright State steps back out of HL play until the end of the month and finishes off its non-conference slate, beginning with a trip to take on Marshall Saturday in a 4 p.m. tipoff. Fans can follow the action several ways – on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio feed.
