AUBURN, Alabama – The Wright State baseball team opened its series at Auburn, falling 11-0 on Friday afternoon. The Raiders will continue the series tomorrow, Saturday, February 22 at 1 p.m. ET, finishing the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Wright State (2-1) struggled offensively, recording seven hits and one walk while striking out seven times.
Patrick Fultz finished with two hits in three at bats, while
Hunter Warren had one hit and one walk.

Nate Manley,
JP Peltier, and
Boston Smith each added one hit for the Raiders.
Smith recorded the Raiders' first hit with a single to center field in the first. Fultz followed with an infield single, advancing Smith to second. Warren then drew a walk to load the bases, but Wright State was unable to capitalize. Daniel and Peltier both got on base with a single in the third, and Manley in the fourth. Fultz had his second hit of the day in the sixth, singling up the middle, moving to second as Warren singled to right field.

Auburn jumped out to an early lead with five runs in the first inning, scoring first on a two-RBI single before adding a three-run homer to right-center. The Tigers extended their lead to six with an RBI single in the second. With two on base in the third, Auburn singled down the left field line, adding their seventh run before pushing the lead to 8-0 with a sacrifice fly. The Raider's held Auburn scoreless in the fourth and fifth, as
Kyle Kesel struck out two batters in the bottom of the fifth. Auburn pushed its lead to double digits in the sixth, scoring on an RBI single to left and an RBI double down the left field line to make it 10-0. Auburn capped the scoring with an RBI single through the right side, enforcing the 10-run rule after a scoreless top of the seventh.
Cooper McMurray led the Tigers with three hits, tallying four RBI. Bub Terrel also tallied three hits and drove in three runs. Starting pitcher Samuel Dutton (1-1) earned the win, tossing five and two third scoreless innings while allowing seven hits and one walk, striking out seven.
