AUBURN, AL- Wright State grabbed its first lead of the season in the third, but big innings by the #25 Auburn Tigers were the difference in an 11-1 seven-inning setback on Saturday afternoon.
Boston Smith was one of five Raiders with a base hit on Saturday, plating
Gus Gregory and giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the third. In the bottom of the frame, five straight Tigers reached base in a three-run inning.
Warren Hartzell came in from the bullpen to strike out a pair and end the inning.
A pair of unearned runs crossed the plate in the fourth before the Tigers broke the game open with a five-run fifth. Wright State would get runners on in each of the middle three innings but couldn't push across another run. Five pitchers took the bump for the Raiders on Saturday, led by Hartzell's scoreless outing. Freshman JJ Thompson made his college debut, getting the final four outs for the Raiders on Saturday.
